2011 Apr 14

A UMass Dartmouth sports marketing class group assignment to hold a non-profit fundraiser has produced a community effort to raise money to benefit the Children's Museum of Greater Fall River. The event will have teams of all ages from the community playing Dodgeball on April 30 at BMC Durfee High School.

"These students represent the best of UMass Dartmouth,'' said Nicole Castoguay, who teaches the sports marketing class. "They jump at the opportunity to put their brains and talents to work for the community, and they are learning more by doing it."

John Turcotte from Sterling, MA and classmates worked to ensure a successful Dodgeballin' for Kids Tournament.

Teams of five will compete in three age groups, Toss (ages 11 to 13), Throw (ages 14 to 17) and Launch (ages 18 and older). Team contribution is $25 Proceeds go to the Children's Museum of Greater Fall River, Inc. There will be prizes given to the winners of the three age groups as well as an award for the most creative team jersey.
